Not only is the painting taking an unprecedented number of coats, but it looks as though it has been done by my lovely 4 year old godson. Ah well, onwards and upwards.
Looking a little better is the Paris box file, which is not far off being complete. I used a spotty background paper (recycled wrapping paper), some pages out of a French dictionary, a couple of old Paris images from Karen the Graphics Fairy, some printed paper, and spotty ribbon. Plus some slightly sepia coloured Promarker. Left to do: consider adding a couple more pieces of text, sealing, sew an Eiffel Tower charm to the ribbon, and she's done.
For more workspace goodness, pop over to Julia's. I did manage to get round to every workspace last week, and a fascinating tour it was.
Liking the Paris Box File :) What a great idea! And can't you just get some fabby designs from wrapping paper (especially of the Paperchase variety!!)

The papier mache will be fine when it is done and the Paris box file is so chic!

Thank you all for visiting; company is always warmly welcomed. As far as the desk tidies are concerned, I think I now understand the old adage about the fascination (or not) in watching paint dry. I seem to have spend most of my week adding coat after coat. ;-) Julia - I'm tempted to do some more that are all vintage-y and newsprint, but if you look closely on this set, you can see lots of heavyweight news. I think I need to find the arts pages, rather than the news headlines!
ReplyDeleteYou've cheered me up about the Paris box; I wasn't at all sure about it, but I'm encouraged to finish it off with a few swirly stamps.
See you all soon, Bernie

ReplyDeleteHi Bernie! Not sure if my last comment worked or not cos my PC did a chip-flip. Hoping you have a fabby time in Belgium - of COURSE their stash is different to ours! ;D Thanks for stopping by my space.... #5

I had intended to stop by and visit anyone who left a comment, then I got confused, so decided to go through the list instead. So you see how well my strategy worked (grin). I love the many layers and the amount of time it must be taking. It will all be worth it in the end, though. And thanks for stopping by my place on Wed.
ReplyDeleteI am sure these will be wonderful and well worth the wait once they are painted up.
